120V motorized roller shades are engineered for high-torque performance and larger architectural openings. Due to the increased motor size and the space required for heavy-duty hardware, these systems are compatible with our larger-profile top treatments to ensure proper clearance and a clean aesthetic.
Compatible Housing & Concealment Options
The following top treatments have been specifically vetted for use with 120V motor systems, providing ample room for the motor head, cable management, and fabric roll:
- 4-inch Fascia: A sleek, snap-on aluminum cover available in square and curved profiles. This is the standard choice for protecting the shade roll while maintaining a minimalist architectural look.
- 5.5-inch Pocket with Closure: The ideal solution for new construction. This recessed ceiling pocket completely conceals the 120V hardware, leaving only a uniform architectural line at the ceiling.
- Hanger and Closure: A streamlined alternative for recessed applications where a full pocket box is not required, offering a clean finish for shades mounted within a ceiling plenum.
Engineering Considerations
Because 120V motors are typically used for shades with larger drops or heavier fabrics, the 4-inch and 5.5-inch systems are required to accommodate the resulting roll diameter. These top treatments also provide the necessary space for the SJTW power cable to be routed safely to a junction box or outlet.
