Rechargeable battery motors offer a clean, wire-free installation without the need for an electrician. Designed for high efficiency, these motors are engineered to provide reliable daily operation for extended periods between maintenance cycles.
Average Battery Life
On average, Soleffect battery-powered motors last approximately one year before requiring a recharge. This estimate is based on standard usage of one full up-and-down cycle per day. Factors such as shade size, fabric weight, and frequency of use may slightly affect the total duration of the charge.
The Recharging Process
Recharging your motorized shades is a simple process that does not require removing the shade from its brackets. To ensure optimal battery health and performance:
- Use the Correct Hardware: Connect the Somfy® 6-foot wall charger directly to the charging port located on the motor head.
- Overnight Cycle: We recommend allowing the motor to recharge overnight to ensure a full 100% battery capacity.
- Extension Cables: For shades mounted in high or hard-to-reach windows, 90-inch charger extension cables are available to make the port accessible from floor level.
Long-Term Maintenance Tip
You do not need to wait for the battery to be completely depleted before charging. If you notice the motor operating slower than usual, it is a good indicator that a recharge cycle is needed. Maintaining a consistent charge helps extend the overall lifespan of the internal lithium-ion cells.
